CBG For Gut Health

gut3

Did you know that 70% of the human immune system is located in the gut? Not many people know that. The gut is a very important part of the human health system even though it rarely gets the attention it deserves. But do you also know that CBG has been linked to improved gut health?

How serious are gut ailments in the US?

Research shows that about 44% of the total population suffers from gut health at any given time. That’s almost half the population! Research also shows that every year about 62% of the entire population suffers from some sort of poor gut health, be it diarrhea, constipation, bloating, gut diseases, etc. And out of all the millions of people that suffer from gut health, women double the number of male patients.

But more than that, you should know that gut illness is a serious matter that has been linked to cholesterol around blood vessels, heart disease, poor mental health (including depression), and chronic kidney disease.

How can CBG help to treat or prevent gut ailments?

There is a strong link between CBG and gut health. Studies have shown that CBG can help treat some of the main gut diseases known today. Specifically, CBG has been seen to help with diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), colitis, and Crohn’s Disease. All these are gut diseases that result due to poor equilibrium of bacteria in the gut.

CBG has also been seen to have anti-bacterial properties. This was established mainly through CBG’s effectiveness against MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus). Now, it is well known that gut ailments stem from bad bacteria in the gut multiplying and overrunning good bacteria. But if CBG can help with resistant bacteria such as MRSA then chances are high that it can also help with bad gut bacteria that causes gut diseases such as colitis and IBS.

CBG is also known to have anti-inflammation properties. There’s already great promise of treating eczema and psoriasis using CBG. Eczema and Psoriasis are known indicators of poor gut health. If CBG can quell inflammation in the gut, it can help reduce the severity of gut diseases or even prevent them in whole.

CBG is also known to have pain relief properties. Gut diseases are known to cause pain, be it abdominal pain, joint pain, bloating, or other forms of pain and discomfort. In that regard, CBG can help abate or completely prevent pain associated with gut ailments.

What have scientific studies shown so far?

A number of studies have shown promising results in relation to treating gut diseases.

  • This 2008 study by researchers from Italy and the UK showed that cannabis and CBG showed great promise against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains.
  • A 2007 study showed that CBG showed great promise in treating skin inflammations such as eczema and psoriasis. These inflammations, as mentioned earlier, are sometimes associated with poor gut health and considered as symptoms of bad gut bacteria.
  • This 2013 study by researchers from the Department of Pharmacy in the University of Naples, Italy showed that cannabis cannabigerol (CBG) may have a positive impact in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) after conducting colitis tests on mice. Their study suggested clinical experimentation on IBD patients.

CBG is therefore clearly a major contender when it comes to offering breakthroughs in gut health and helping with gut diseases such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative colitis, and other forms of inflammatory bowel disease.
